What's in my makeup bag: Fall Edition

I love to write about what's currently in my makeup bag because I like seeing how my taste changes throughout the year. Lately I've been loving the graphic eye trend, wearing makeup that is a mixture of 60s mod with a sun kissed Gidget twist. For those who don't know, Gidget was a show about a cute surfer girl played by Sally Field.

Matte skin is the trend for this season and I've been loving Becca's Mineral Powder Foundation. Because this is mineral-based, my skin looks matte but with a slight luminosity. For reference, I use the shade Noisette and I currently have medium-tan skin. I like to also put a mattifying powder on my forehead and I've been loving Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder in 005 Silky Beige. YSL Touché Éclat has been my go-to for highlighting my face, mainly under the eyes, brows and a touch to my Cupid's bow.

For my eyes, I like to add subtle definition to my crease and lower lash line with the darkest color in the Dior 3 Couleurs palette in Smoky Brown. I line my upper lash line with a liquid liner and I've been switching between Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner and Marc Jacobs Magic Marc'er eyeliner pen (review to come). Some days I wear a thin line with a slight flick while other days I like to wear a thick-lined lid with a dramatic wing. Of course, I always fill in my brows with my fave Hourglass brow pencil and add a couple coats of Maybelline mascara.

To keep the focus on my eyes, I keep the rest of my face simple. I like to add color to my cheeks with MAC Sheertone blush in Sunbasque and I usually top off my lips with whatever sheer pink lipstick I have in my purse (usually Dior or Josie Maran).

Thanks for stopping by! Let me know what's in your makeup bag this season and please follow me or subscribe for more posts.

Achieve a natural flush with Marc Jacobs Shameless Bold Blush inRebellious

Marc Jacobs' cosmetic line is new to the beauty world and I'm already a big fan. My first experience with the MJ line was with the polishes which I adore, and I thought I'd give it a go with the blushes. I was immediately drawn to Rebellious, a bright and bold pink.

Product Alert: NEW Real Techniques brush set

If you've been around the beauty blogosphere, you'll know that Real Techniques brushes are some of the best around, and loved by many (myself including).  I almost jumped out of seat when I saw this new set of brushes online at Ulta for only $29.99, which means that each brush comes out to only $6 each! This is a steal! If you're looking for the perfect holiday gift for a beauty-loving friend or have had your eye on Real Techniques, I highly suggest you check this set out. Also, if you wait for the occasional 20% off coupon, it's almost like highway robbery... In the best possible way of course. :)

My Sephora VIB Sale Wish List and simple FOTD

Hey stranger, long time no blog. For those that still continue to visit, thank you! I know it's been a one post per month stint for me this summer/early fall, but after traveling for a month, I'm excited to sit down and blog, and share some goodies that I've been enjoying.

I've been compiling my Sephora wish list for the past few months in anticipation of the upcoming VIB sale this week which if you didn't know, is 20% off everything, including luxury brands! Though there have been palettes and lipsticks that I've been waiting to purchase during this sale, I mainly like to haul skincare products which tend to be on the pricier side, but with 20% off, it's the perfect time to stock up on almost empties.

Rimmel's Stay Matte Pressed Powder keeps me shine-free all day long

During a recent drugstore haul, I picked up this mattifying powder by Rimmel. I have combo-dry skin which can be slightly oily during warmer days. My main problem is trying to stay shine-free after a long work shift. Up until recently, I was using Bare Minerals Mineral Veil which used to keep me matte for a good 8 hours or so. Nowadays, I have to blot 3-4 times a day to stop from looking like a grease ball. And then came this product which I know has either been a hit or miss for others. Thankfully for me, it's been a hit.

Early Fall Drugstore Haul!

Haul posts are not only one of my favorites to read, but also one of my favorites to write. There are products that I've overlooked many times in drugstore aisles, only to give it a second take after reading  glowing haul reviews.

Attention jet-setting beauties! I have two fabulous Sonia Kashuk findsfor you!

After a summer of travel hibernation, I'm gearing up for another season of flying to faraway places. In just a few weeks, I'll be heading to South America. Other than getting excited for new makeup collections, I'm also thrilled by finding chic travel-friendly items.

While perusing the aisles of Target, I came upon these two Sonia Kashuk items. These two were my first SK purchases. I've heard nothing but good things about Kashuk's line and I can't wait to take these beauties with me abroad. As a traveler, I'm always finding ways to lighten up my load. I found this dual-ended foundation and powder brush which I thought would be perfect for my travel makeup bag. I haven't put it through the ringer just yet, but I can tell you that the natural and synthetic bristles are really soft. I'll post a thorough review once I've had the chance to use it.

NEW Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Highlighting Powder... And my summerupdate.

This sounds like a running theme this summer but I have to apologize for being MIA. Summer is my favorite holiday and I associate hanging outside and enjoying carefree summer days.  Unfortunately, the opposite was true for me as this summer has been nothing close to carefree and I've been stuck inside (literally).  My twitter friends know that I've complained of car issues.  It sucked when I didn't know whether or not I'd be able to leave after a long work shift.  Starting my car brought anxiety and several occasions I had to cancel plans because my car wasn't cooperating.

Summer is soon coming to an end and fortunately, my car woes are slowly being sorted out so I can focus on other things... Which brings me to my favorite luxury beauty brand.  If you follow my blog, you know I'm a big fan of Burberry beauty. One of my favorite products is their Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base, which I don't use as a base but as a liquid highlighter.  This summer Burberry came out with a pressed version of Fresh Glow (yay for travel-friendly products!) as well as a bronzed version in both liquid and powder formulation.  I love the original liquid version of Fresh Glow so naturally I went with its powdered counterpart, Nude Radiance No. 01.  I tried the bronzed version which was pretty, but had a slight metallic-y sheen that's just not me.

Rock winged liner all summer long with Lorac Front of the Line Pro

You know those moments when you're about to write a product off just because you're unfamiliar with the brand, then decide to give it a go and realize you've fallen in like or love?  Yup, that's what happened to me and now I can't wait to talk about these products.  I was gifted a pen liquid eyeliner and eye primer by a friend.  These products aren't new, but this is my first venture into the world of Lorac and I just had to rave about these beauties.

I'm not one to use primer. I like to keep my makeup routine minimal.  Unless I absolutely need something, I won't use it.  In the summer my skin is combo-oily and my lids tend to show shine by mid-afternoon.  Since I was gifted Lorac's Behind the Scenes Eye Primer, I decided to test it out.  Lately I've been using cream eyeshadow sticks which already have amazing staying power, but because I only line my lids, I still get a little oily around my creases.  With this primer, I didn't experience oily lids at all after a 12-hr shift.  This primer also helped prevent my eyeliner from migrating to my lower lids which makes this a keeper in my summer makeup uniform.  Oh, and it has a slanted tip which keeps this primer more hygienic than others.

I'm becoming fond of Lorac's Front of the Line Pro liquid eyeliner.  When I first got this, I swatched it on my hand and didn't even bother to try it on my lids.  After three days, this swatch was still on my hand!  Though it was faded, I was blown away by the lasting power of this liner.  I just recently decided to test it out on my lids but was skeptical of the super thin brush and doubted its ability to create a quality winged eye.  I tend to gravitate towards liquid liners that have a felt tip.  My fave is by Eyeko.  Anyway, after actually using the pen liner I noticed the bristled, tapered tip.  Like a fine paintbrush, it was very easy for me to draw a winged eye, really easy in fact.  The finish is semi-matte with a slight gloss.  I can see this being my go-to liner for my long shifts at work.

I'm glad that I actually gave Lorac a chance and hope to discover other lovely products. Any suggestions? I'd love to know! :)

What I'm loving right now... Early summer edition

I've seriously minimized my makeup routine as summer weather makes me lazy.  I find myself reaching for the same items on my makeup counter and I thought I'd share them with you.  I apologize for the lack of posts. Not having a working laptop is rough, especially since those funds are diverted to my car (still in repair).  Anywho, here is a post on what I'm loving right now.

1. When Hourglass launched their brow pencil, there was a lot of hype which I didn't buy into.  Too bad since this is close to holy grail status for a brow product for me.  This makes filling in my brows so fast that the extra minutes allow me to go on a coffee run and still get to work on time. Truth!

2. I've been looking for the perfect cobalt blue nail polish that fits my skin tone and I've finally found it.  Nails Inc nail polish is Baker Street is the perfect bold summer blue for me, and I think this color would pair well with nautical striped tees and coral sundresses.

3. I discovered Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat while abroad volunteering.  My roomie let me use her nail polish because my manicure was in serious need of help.  I soon found out that the this affordable top coat extended my mani for a week and half with very minor tip wear.  Seriously love!

4. I'm all about sheer lippies this summer because they're no-fuss.  I usually detest having to reapply, but because I don't have to worry about being precise with sheer lipsticks, I don't mind as I prefer lightweight, moisturizing formulas when it's hot outside. I absolutely love Dior Addict lipstick in Exotique.  This sheer MLBB pink has been a staple in my makeup uniform since last month.

5. Who doesn't love a bold red coral when going out for drinks with friends and enjoying summer events like 4th of July fireworks? YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 12 Corail Incandescent is a color that brightens my complexion (and makes me look better in pictures!).

6. Along with sheer lipsticks, I also love sheer cheek color and Bobbi Brown's Sheer Cheek Tint in Summer Pink gives me that girl-next-door glow from within.  I've tried several application techniques and the one that looks the most natural is when I apply the stick directly to my middle finger, then pat and blend with both my middle and ring fingers in small circular motions.

There you have it, what I'm loving right now.  What are your go-to products this summer?

Thanks for visiting and don't forget to subscribe if you enjoyed this post. :)
